Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Crank the Watts collects, why, and what control you have over it. Crank the Watts is operated by MonoVerde Group Limited ("we", "us").
1. Data we collect
Account data: when you sign up we store your email address, display name, and a hashed password. You may optionally add a bio, profile photo, links, and cycling details (FTP, heart-rate zones, weight) — these are entirely optional and you control them in your profile settings.
Content you create: the intervals, workouts and plans you build, and records of what you download.
Payment data: if you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details — Stripe handles that. We store your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference.
Connected accounts: if you connect Strava, we store access tokens (encrypted) so we can match your completed rides to workouts you downloaded. You can disconnect at any time, which deletes those tokens.
Usage data: we use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising (see section 4).
2. Why we use it
To run your account and deliver the service; to process subscriptions; to match your Strava rides to workouts (only if you connect Strava); to understand how the site is used and improve it; and to fund free access through advertising.
3. Legal basis
We process account and payment data to perform our contract with you. Analytics and advertising rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Where we rely on legitimate interests (such as preventing abuse), we balance those against your rights.
4. Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics 4 and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to understand usage and measure advertising. We operate Google Consent Mode and honour your choice via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can refuse non-essential cookies there, or change your mind by clearing the cookie.
Non-premium pages may show advertising served by Google AdSense, Amazon affiliate links, and our own promotions. Premium subscribers see no advertising.
Some conversion events (such as completing a subscription) are also sent server-to-server to Google and Meta. These relate to the transaction you chose to make.
5. Who we share data with
We share data only with the providers that make the service work: Stripe (payments), Google and Meta (analytics and advertising), Strava (only the data needed to sync your activities, and only if you connect it), and our hosting and email providers. We do not sell your personal data.
6. International transfers
Some of these providers are based outside the UK and EEA. Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records (for example, transaction records for tax and accounting).
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address below. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Children
Crank the Watts is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
